Chapter Twenty Four: Blindsided

Emmalina and Sebastian laid cuddled in the bed after their eventful evening. She laid against his chest and he had his arms wrapped around her.

Emmalina started to stir and gently slipped out from under his arms. She glanced out the window and noticed it was still dark out. Her stomach was growling and she realized she hadn't even eaten dinner. She went to go get her clothes, only to remember they were in shreds in the hallway. Shit. How am I supposed to go home naked? She quietly got up to check in Sebastian's dresser to see if there was anything for her to wear.

She rummaged through the drawers and settled on a black bathrobe. She turned around to see Sebastian standing behind her. "Oh God!"

"Mmmm, not quite." he murmured as he pushed her hair out of her face.

Emmalina laughed and said, "You scared me. I didn't even hear you get up."

"I apologize. We tend to keep our motions silent. Old habits." He replied as he tugged the rope that held the bathrobe closed. Emmalina's stomach decided that was the perfect moment to growl again and Sebastian stopped what he was doing. "You are hungry. You need to eat."

"Eat what? You have nothing here and now I have no clothes to go out and get something."

"Actually that is not true. I went shopping for food and other household items a human would need a few days ago."

"Did you really? How was that experience?"

"Not very pleasant. I did not know what you liked so I just grabbed a bit of everything. Although I must admit, it was much more convenient than when I was human. Everything is already packaged and ready to cook."

"Yeah, I guess we're lucky." Emmalina said a little shyly. She'd forgotten he was hundreds of years older than her. She closed the bathrobe a little, losing some of her confidence with him. She then started to think about all the experiences he's had in his long life. I wonder how many women he's slept with? She couldn't make herself ask him, not after last night. Do I want to know anyway? She looked at him. He was the definition of chiseled perfection. No, I don't want to know.

"Emmalina?" Sebastian said, getting her attention.

"Hmm?" She asked, tucking her thoughts away for now.

"I said, you should eat while I run and buy you some clothes."

"But it will be light soon."

"I am fast. I will be back before the sun comes up. I am responsible for ruining your clothes in the first place. The least I can do is buy you some more." He said as he zipped up his pants.

"Alright. Hurry back." She said as she kissed him on the cheek and he was out the door in a blur.

Emmalina retied the bathrobe and set out for the kitchen. "Whoa!" she said aloud as she opened the refrigerator door. It was packed with everything she could think of. Her eyes stopped on some pancake mix so she grabbed it along with oil, eggs and butter. She looked through the cabinets to find brand new cookware, cups, plates, utensils. Everything a house would need. She grabbed a frying pan and quickly mixed and cooked the pancakes. After she finished eating, Sebastian walked in with several bags as she was placing her dishes into the dishwasher. "Bastian you didn't rip up my entire closet! This is too much." She said as she eyed six shopping bags.

"Emmalina, I am an immortal. You would have to be an imbecile not to be financially stable when you live for hundreds and thousands of years." He handed her the bags. "Here. I am sure you would like to shower?"

"Yes." She said as she grabbed the bags and headed into the bathroom.

She ran the tub and soaked for a bit in the hot water. She was still sore from last night and the hot water felt good on her body. After she washed and dried off, she started going through the bags.

Oh my GOD! $300 for a bra? Holy shit. Are there diamonds on it? She thought as she inspected it then carefully laid it down to go through the rest of the bags. All of it had designer labels and together it was more than she would make in a year. Having no other clothing options, she put on a pair of jeans, a silk top and matching stilettos. Damn, he has good taste, expensive...but good. As she was grabbing the bags together, she noticed there was a smaller bag inside one of the empty ones. When she opened it, she thought she was going to faint at the rate his little shopping trip was racking up. Inside was a long, black, velvet box. Being a woman, she couldn't help but open it with a little smile on her face. Inside was a diamond bracelet that was perfectly crafted. She almost snapped the box shut, not daring to wear it anywhere because she was afraid she would lose it. But she didn't have the heart not to wear it. He'd obviously picked everything out with care, not to mention barely making it back in time before the sun rose. She carefully slipped the bracelet on her wrist and admired it. I don't even want to know what this costs. She shuddered just thinking about that going on one of her credit cards. She stood in front of the mirror, surveying her hair and makeup. Her hair was decent but her day old makeup was smeared. She wiped the smeared black eyeliner from under her eyes and tried to smooth out her foundation. She looked under the sink and found a spare toothbrush and toothpaste and quickly brushed her teeth. When she was satisfied with her appearance, she walked out the bathroom.

Sebastian was waiting for her in the hallway. "Wow. You are absolutely breath taking." he said as he took a step towards her. Unable to fight the pull he was feeling to be inside her.

"Thank you. Though I think it's the clothes. Bastian these are a little bit too...."

He cut her off when his lips met hers. He slid his hands up her back to her shoulders and tugged at her blouse.

"Why don't you let me do that." She said huskily. He smiled against her lips. He grabbed her hand and lead her into his room, never disconnecting from her mouth.

She undressed for him as he watched from the bed. His eyes were full of hunger and he was having a hard time controlling it. When she finally joined him, he let go and she followed. And they continued their escapades in the bedroom for the rest of the day.

The next morning when Emmalina finally went home, Amelia greeted her cheerfully. "Emmalina. Wow, look at you! Did you go shopping?"

"Err, yes. I finally finished that case with Beau and I decided to treat myself." Well there goes that excuse for being gone all night. "Um, why are you so cheerful this morning?"

"That wonderful! I'm glad you can put this whole vampire business behind you." Amelia looked around to make sure no one could hear her even though no one was in the house besides them. "Emmalina I've been practicing my magic. I'm getting pretty good."

Emmalina was surprised. Her mother had barely spoken to her since she left Mason's house. Neither had he, actually. She thought they were just ignoring her but apparently that's not the case. "And you're happy about that?"

"Yes. I feel...powerful. I don't have to be scared or helpless ever again. Because between us, when we would go rogue hunting I was always terrified that your father and myself wouldn't make it back home to you and Mason. That was my worst fear, for the two of you to be orphans, alone in the world. Trust me, that's not a good feeling. But now...I have a few new tricks up my sleeve."

"So all this time you've been reading and practicing?"

"Yes. I can't wait to show Vlad my new abilities." She said with an evil grin. "Emmalina you should come with me. Your power would be especially useful on him."

"Oh I think I'll leave the torturing to you. Have you talked to Mason?" Emmalina asked, changing the subject.

"No. I've called dozens of times and went by their house but they are never home. Mason's power is more destructive than ours. He is going to need time to adjust to everything. When he is ready, he'll come to us."

"I hope you're right about that."

"I know my son. He just needs to be alone right now."

"Alright. Well I'm going to bed. I had a long night."

"Emmalina before you go to bed could you call that witch lady who told you about all of this? I'm having trouble with Levitation. I can only hover about an inch off the ground. I was hoping she could help me."

Emmalina smiled at her Mom. She seemed to like what she was although Emmalina was trying to ignore the fact that she liked it because it was a new weapon against vampires. "Sure Mom. I'll give her a call." After she was finished talking to Alesana she walked back into the kitchen. "Mom she said she would be able to meet us in maybe two weeks. She is very busy with spells and potions for clients and her normal job is demanding a lot from her too but she can meet with us two weeks from Saturday."

Amelia looked a bit disappointed at the long wait. "Alright then. I guess I will have to wait. What do you mean by clients? She sells her magic?"

"I think she sells potions and casts spells for Loreans at a very steep price."

"Hmmm, that seems like a smart idea to me."

"Yeah I guess so. Well I'm going to bed."

"Alright, sleep well."

"Thanks."

Emmalina rushed to her bedroom to get some much needed sleep. She was so exhausted she could barely keep her eyes closed.

Over the next week, Amelia continued practicing her telekinesis while Donovan was at work. She was able to hold things up longer than she had last week but she still could not levitate. She didn't know what the problem was but hoped the other witch could help her fix it.

The day they had their meeting with Alesana, Emmalina woke up feeling sick. This is what I get for eating Dad's cooking. She thought as she ran towards the bathroom, barely making it in time. After she flushed the toilet and brushed her teeth, it dawned on her that there might be another reason for her nauseousness.

Across town, another Burkhart wasn't feeling so hot either, though his was from completely different reasons. She's gone. She left me. The only woman I've ever loved and she just packed her shit and left. Apparently she fell in love with Mason the human, not Mason the freak. He ordered another glass of Jack Daniel's Whiskey and continued on with his week long pity party. That fucking bitch. She obviously didn't love me. Sickness and health my ass! Who needs her anyhow? Ahhh Damn. Fuck me. "Bartender? How about another glass? And this time leave the bottle."

Later that day, Emmalina and Amelia met Alesana at the location she told them. Apparently she was taking them to a Lore bar where only Lorearns were allowed in. The three of them sat at the bar as Alesana ordered them drinks. Amelia was a bit weary of the Demoness who was making their drinks. It's one thing to believe, quite another to see. Amelia tried to focus on something else but the bar was pretty empty. Emmalina couldn't care less about the Demoness, she had more important, life changing distractions on her mind.

She barely registered that her mother and Alesana started talking. She had completely zoned out, lost in her thoughts. This can not be happening. I'm only 22 years old for Christ's sake! I know my parents had me young but...Oh shit! My parents! How in the hell am I supposed to explain this? To Sebastian? How can I have a child with someone I'm not even sure loves me? Or if I love him? When you have a child with someone, a little piece of that person is with you always. What if he isn't ready for this yet? What if he wants things to stay like they are? Ugh, I need to pull myself together, I don't even know if I'm pregnant yet. It probably was just Dad's horrible cooking. That macaroni and cheese did smell kind of funny.

"Emmalina!?" Amelia yelled.

"Yeah, what?"

"Are you okay?" Alesana asked, squinting her eyes at her.

"Yes. No. I...I have to go." Emmalina said as she got up from the bar and ran out the door.

She took a cab to a local drug store and brought a pregnancy test. I have to know for sure. I'll go crazy if I don't. She was about to wave a cab down to take her back home before she had a thought. I can't use it there! My Mom or Dad could find it in the wastebasket. I can't use it at at Sebastian's. She spotted a club that just opened their doors and headed inside. No one was there besides the bartender and the bouncer. She briskly walked to the bathroom and locked the door. She opened the package and made sure she followed the directions exactly. Then she put the cap back on and sat it on the sink to wait for the longest 2 to 3 minutes of her life.

There it was. That little pink plus sign that told her she was about to be a mother. Emmalina put her hand to her head to try and keep the room from spinning. What am I supposed to do now? How could I have been so stupid? Emmalina started feeling nauseous again and ran into one of the stalls to throw up. The smell and nervousness made her heave even more.

After she came out of the stall, with sweat beading on her forehead, Emmalina slumped to the floor and leaned against the wall and started to cry. She looked down at her stomach and cried even harder. She felt so alone. How am I supposed to tell Bastian? How do you start a conversation like that? Oh Hi. I know most 22 year olds are on birth control but since I didn't have a sex life before you, I never really thought about it or anything else through before I jumped into bed with you. I am way over my head. I have no one to talk to. Mom is completely out of the question. God, her and Dad are going to have an aneurysm. That's if Dad doesn't run off looking for the guy responsible. And when he finds out he's a vampire...all hell will break lose. Maybe he doesn't have to know? Maybe I can just skip town or.... No. I can't do that, not to Bastian. This involves him too whether he wants it to or not. I might be his mate but I don't know if children are included in that deal or not but he at least has the right to know. She stood up and dried her face from tears and smearing mascara. She looked in the mirror at herself and tried to picture what she would look like as she got farther along. I'm on the thin side so it won't be long before I start showing. I'll have to tell him soon. He'll expect me to come over tonight but if I go I know I won't be able to hold this back. Maybe I shouldn't go at all? Not tonight anyways. But my luck he will come looking for me and be seen which will make things worse. All this, the baby, him, it all has to come from me when it comes to my parents. I just hope they can accept it. That's all I want from them. I don't want to do this alone. Maybe I could talk to Alesana? Ask her what to do? No, Bastian needs to be first. Tonight it is then.

NOTES:

I'm sorry guys. I couldn't wait any longer. For SO long I've wanted an Emmalina and Sebastian baby that I just had to make it happen. Although how much would you guys hate me if her test came back negative? Lol. Sorry about the bad angle of the pregnancy test picture, you guys have no idea how horrible that thing was! It would just float in midair. I couldn't move it up or down so it's actually sticking out from under her breast but at a top angle it looks like she is holding it...sort of. Anyways...I hope you guys enjoyed it! Thanks again for taking the time to read it.

Chapter Twenty Three: I Wanna Do Real Bad Things With You

As Alesana was putting away the ingredients they used and cleaning out the contents left in the bowl, Emmalina couldn't help but noticed the very large wolf walking towards them. "Emmalina there is no need to be afraid. It's just Dorian in his wolf form." Emmalina bent down as the wolf stopped in front of her. She raised her hand slightly and Dorian put his nose under her hand to let her know it was okay to pet him.

"Amazing." She breathed out as she continued petting the wolf and starred into his intelligent eyes. Dorian let out a noise that almost sounded like a laugh.

The wolf backed up from her and Emmalina watched in amazement as he shifted from wolf to human. Though now she had a naked Dorian in front of her and her amazement soon turned to discomfort. Don't look down! Whatever you do, DO NOT look down.

Alesana started laughing. "Dorian you are making her very uncomfortable."

"I'm sorry but we don't exactly believe in that whole modesty nonsense. Especially when we are naked half the time...you'll get use to it."

"I'm not so sure about that." Emmalina said, keeping her eyes so focused on his face they were starting to sting. She then turned her attention to Alesana when Dorian announced he was going up stairs for clothes and food. "Do you know what my powers are now since we unbound them?"

"Yes, I know what yours, your mother's and your brother's powers are. My ability is quite handy."

"Do you mind sharing what they are?" Emmalina asked.

"Alright fine, I was hoping you would want to find out on your own but considering none of you know much about magic, one of you might hurt someone or worse use your powers in public and cause an uproar. You have two, both are mental abilities. The first one is Necromancy. That means you have the ability to mentally control the dead. That includes ghosts and yes, vampires. I suggest trying to use that on your vampire to see if he is truly your mate. But do it before you blood him because once his heart starts beating he will be considered among the living. Your second ability is Astral Projection. Basically you will be able to project your consciousness into an astral form outside of your body. Your physically body will slump over, fall or remain still until you return. A warning to you with this power though, your physical body will be unprotected when you project yourself. Several witches have died while they were astral projecting and they are now lost souls because their soul did not die along with their physical body. Make sure you are always in a safe place before you use this ability."

"Seeing as I don't even know how to use it, that shouldn't be a problem."

"But you will. I can give you books on each of the powers your family possesses. Emily had a total of five abilities which makes her the 3rd person in our history with so many. They seemed to have separated themselves out among the three of you. Which brings me to your mother. She has two as well, one mental, one physical. Her mental ability is Telekinesis, which I'm sure you know is moving objects with your mind. Her second, physical one, is Levitation, she will be able to manipulate gravity to the extent where she will be able to rise in the air. Your brother has the most deadly power of you all....well unless you decided to make a vampire army." Alesana teases Emmalina.

"No, I don't think I'd know what to do with a vampire army. So what are my brother's powers?

"He only has one and it's a physical ability. Molecular Combustion. He will be able to speed up molecules in an object or life form so it explodes. You can see why that one could get a little dangerous."

"Are you telling me he could accidentally blow up his wife?"

"Yes, that is quite possible if she isn't his mate."

"Oh my God! I've gotta go. I need to go home to my Mom and try to explain everything. We need to get my brother away from, well....everyone. Thank you, Alesana for everything."

"No problem. Here are the books on each of your powers and here is my cell phone number in case any problems arise."

"Thank you. I may need your help with my Mom and brother so please stay by your phone."

"I will. Good luck."

"Thanks, I have a feeling I'll probably need." She said as she rushed out the door to head home.

Back at home, Amelia was annoyed that Donovan left dirty dishes on the counter.....again. How hard is it to clean up your own damn mess? All he has to do is put the stupid plate... Amelia's train of thought was interrupted by a strange surge of electricity in her body. What the hell was that? Oh God I'm not pregnant again am I? She looked at the dirty plate again and was annoyed with Donovan all over again. I swear if I am, he is a dead man. She glared at the plate and threw her hands up, fed up with constantly cleaning after everyone until suddenly it rose up and zoomed across the kitchen, breaking into pieces as it shattered against the wall. She starred at the pieces trying to make sense of what just happened. What the fuck was that!? Maybe it was a ghost? After all vampires exist, why not ghosts too? Oh lord, I've gone crazy. I've been hit in the head too many times from fighting vampires and now I'm starting to have hallucinations.

Amelia's cell phone starts to ring. She mindlessly hits the answer button and puts it to her ear. Dawn is on the other line frantically ranting. She can half make out what she is saying but she got the jest of it. "What do you mean he blew up the microwave with his hands?" Amelia asks and wonders if someone if playing a joke on her. All she gets is more frantic ramblings. Then she hears explosions and the line goes dead. "Dawn? Hello?" "Dammit!"

Emmalina walks into the door to hear her mother cursing at her phone. "Mom? Are you alright?"

"No, Emmmalina. Something is wrong with me and Mason. We need to go to the hospital.....or the Insane Asylum. I'm not sure which one yet."

"No you don't. This is my fault. I should have talked to the two of you before I made the decision but I wanted to get it over with."

"Emmalina what the hell are you talking about?"

She took a deep breath before she answered, "Mom, we aren't human, or at least not fully. We're....witches."

Amelia busts out laughing. "I knew this was some kind of joke. Though I am curious how you sent the plate flying across the room."

"It's not a joke...and I didn't do that, you did."

Amelia surveyed her daughter's face. She looked...guilty but more importantly she looked dead serious. "Emmalina, what have you done to us?"

"We were born this way! It's who we are. Our powers were bound but I got a little help to get them back."

"This is...not real. This cannot be happening."

"I'm sorry but you are going to have to get over it for a second. We need to go to Mason's house NOW. Dawn could be in danger."

"Explosions......on the phone." Amelia muttered.

"What!?" Oh God, if he kills her, he will never forgive me, nor will I. I need to get there right no.....

Emmalina's body slumped to the floor. Amelia bent down, terrified that she might have just watched her daughter die. "Emmalina?" She asked as she leaned in. She breathed in a sigh of relief as she watched Emmalina's chest rise and fall. "Emmalina!? Wake up!" But it was no use. She wouldn't budge.

One second she was in front of her mother and now she was standing in front of brother. Oh my God! I did it! "Where did you come from!?" Mason asked hysterically. Emmalina took in her brother's appearance. He was a mess. There was soot all over the front of his shirt, he was scared and looked like he was on the verge of losing it. "Emmalina, stay away from me! I'm not very safe to be around." Emmalina felt worse then she did before. This was her doing. They might have been born witches but they weren't raised as witches. Neither of them knew exactly what they were doing and poor Mason had the short stick for now. She knew if he learned to control his power, he would be very deadly.

"Mason, are you alright? Is Dawn okay?"

"Barely. I told her to run. I have no idea where she is." He said almost in a daze.

"MASON! Snap out of it!"

"I'm sorry, something happened to me. I don't know what but you need to leave before I blow you up like I did the microwave, the end table, the dresser....and the bed."

"Oh God, Mason. I'm sorry. I know what happened to you. Go change your clothes and I'll explain everything."

As he left to change his clothes, Emmalina walked over to the counter. It had scorch marks all around where the microwave was. She looked down at the scattered pieces of burnt plastic around the floor. My God.... Mason walked into the kitchen in fresh clothes. "These are the only clothes I have left. The rest of them are scattered in pieces." He said as he joined her beside the counter.

"We'll get you some new clothes."

"Yeah, new clothes..." He said as he starred at the spot where the microwave use to be.

"Mason, this is my fault. I should have warned you but I didn't know it would be this disastrous."

"Warned me about what? What's wrong with me?"

"Mason we aren't exactly regular humans. We are actuall..........

Emmalina vanished right before his eyes. He started doubting whether he had really spoken to her are not. Mason finally broke.

Emmalina was sitting on the floor in their house.
Dammit! I didn't want to come back yet! "Oh thank God!" Amelia exclaimed as Emmalina stood to her feet. "What happened? I tried to wake you up but nothing worked. I even slapped you and still...nothing!!"

"I don't have time to explain. We need to go to Mason's now. I have to help him, I have to make this right."

Emmalina was heading out the door with Amelia on her heels. She grabbed the bag of books that Alesana gave her and ran outside. They jumped in a taxi and she gave the driver her brother's address along with a "Step on it!" for good measure.

When they arrived to Mason's house he was still in the same spot she had left him. When she walked up to him, he recoiled from her. "No, you aren't real."

She put her hand on his shoulder. "It's me Mason, Emmalina."

"Yes but you were not here, then you were and then you weren't again."

Emmalina pinched the bridge of her nose as her mother joined them. "Oh Mason. What happened here?" Amelia asked.

"Okay, everyone follow me to the living room if you want to know what's happening to you." Emmalina said.

Emmalina lead the way into the living room and sat on the couch. Amelia and Mason quietly joined her. "I need you both to have an open mind alright? Especially you Mason since you don't even know about vampires yet."

"EMMALINA!" Amelia shrieked in horror.

"Mom please, you just have no idea what else is out there. Now are you going to listen or not?" Amelia nodded and Emmalina continued. "Firstly, there are tons of supernatural creatures in this world. They refer to themselves as Loreans because they are part of The Lore, which is like their community or something like that. We are also part of the supernatural world. We were born this way. Centuries ago, our great, great, great whatever grandmother was a witch with five magic abilities. She lived through the Salem witch trails and decided to bind her and and her children's magic to help hide them from persecution. But she actually bound future generations as well. Which is why we had no powers or know anything about our heritage. Earlier today I met with a witch and we reversed the spell, giving us all what we were meant to have to begin with."

"I think I'm gonna throw up." Mason said as he grabbed his head. "Emmalina this is crazy. I feel like I should be on medication for even discussing this."

"Oh really? Because the pieces of microwave all over your floor seem like vital proof to me."

Mason turned to his sister, letting his anger out. "Yes there are pieces of microwave on my floor and that's YOUR fault! You have ruined my life! How am I supposed to do anything if I keep blowing shit up!"

"I'm sorry. I should have warned you....both of you. But you were already born this way! That's not my fault. It's what you are."

"No. I didn't have this problem before you danced naked in the forest or whatever the fuck it is you did!"

"That's not what I did. When you learn to control your ability and learn all there is to learn, you won't be so angry."

"Well this is not the time that I'm so fucking gracious to you for ruining my life."

"Mason that's enough!" said Amelia, raising her voice.

"Look Emmalina, I'm sorry. But you can't blame me for being angry. My life is completely turned up said down because of this. I might as well not even bother replacing the furniture, I will probably just blow it up again." Mason said.

"Mason, I promise this will get better. You'll come around, it will just take some time."

Emmalina turned to her mother, bracing herself for her wrath too. But it didn't come. Amelia was very calm when she asked, "So exactly what are we capable of now?"

"You're not mad?" Emmalina asked, surprised.

"Oh don't get me wrong, I'm pissed that you went behind my back and made a life altering decision for the three of us but if I can handle vampires, I can handle witches."

Emmalina saw Mason wince out of the corner of her eye when their mother said the words vampires and witches. "Again....I'm sorry. But to answer your question you and I have two powers and Mason has one, for the grand total of five."

"The same five that our ancestor had?" Amelia asked.

"Yes, exactly. You have Telekinesis and Levitation. You'll be able to move objects or people with your mind and be able to kind of...float in the air. Mason's power is called Molecular Combustion and we've all seen what that does. But Mason you need to be careful, you can blow up people too."

"That's just fucking great. Too bad you didn't tell me sooner because I almost blew up my wife!" Mason said as he scowled.

Emmalina ignored that fact that Mason could use his powers on Dawn. She wasn't going to be the one to tell him the part about mates. "What powers do you have Emmalina?" Amelia asked curiously.

"Astral Projection is one of them. That's what happened when I fainted at the house and Mason that's why I just appeared and disappeared in front of you. That was my astral self, not my physical body. My second power is Necromancy. Basically it means I can control the dead."

"You mean like zombies?" Mason asked.

"No. Like ghosts and vampires."

"Vampires?" Amelia asked with interest. "So you're saying you can tell a vampire to do something and he has no choice but to follow your command?"

"Yes." Emmalina said, not really liking where this conversation was going.

"Very interesting. That would be quite handy in my line of work." Amelia said with a smirk and she already had one particular vampire in mind.

"Why would you need to control the dead? You work at the Police Station." Mason asked, confused.

"Oh sweety. There is a lot I need to tell you since the cat's out the bag."

"I'm not even sure I want to know any more."

Emmalina grabbed the books out of the bag she'd thrown on the floor. She put her's on the coffee table while she handed them theirs. "Here. These will help you control your abilities."

Amelia flipped opened the book and started skimming the pages. Mason was debating on whether he should smack his sister in the head with his but thought against it and open his as well. Emmalina couldn't help put grab hers and do a little reading on Necromancy. She wanted to know if Sebastian was really her mate. She was his and she knew you only had one but she wasn't sure if it was a mutual bond. She read through the pages, trying to figure out how to wield her new power.

Amelia abruptly looked up from her book to say, "We can't tell your Father about any of this."

"What? Why?" Emmalina asked.

"Because I don't think he could handle it."

"Mom I don't think you can hide this from him. I plan on telling Dawn everything." Mason said.

"I just....can't we just keep it quiet for now?"

"Fine. I just hope this doesn't blow up in your face. I probably won't be there so the chances of that happening are probably slim though."

All three of them laughed. Emmalina knew Mason was still pissed off but Alesana said they would come around. I just hope it's sooner rather than later. They each focused on their books once more. Emmalina glanced out the window and noticed it was already dark. "Well, I have to get to work."

"You're just leaving?" Mason asked.

"I have a job. I can't put that on hold. Clients are depending on me. Mom can you stay with Mason and help him?"

"Yeah. Maybe we can see if we can reach Dawn to make sure she's okay. Do you want to do that Mason?"

"Yeah. We can try to reach her on her cell phone."

"Alright, I'll see you guys tomorrow." Emmalina said as she walked out the door.

As soon as she walked through Sebastian's front door he said, "I see you went through with the unbinding spell."

"How did you know that?"

"Because I could smell you from half a mile away." He said with a half grin. "How does it feel?"

"Good. I like it but my brother is having a very difficult time."

"How so?"

"Well, his ability is Molecular Combustion and he keeps blowing up everything."

Sebastian raised his eyebrows. "That is a very impressive power."

"Well at the moment he doesn't think so."

Okay, here goes nothing. Emmalina mentally prepared herself for what she wanted Sebastian to do. She envisioned in her mind and couldn't help but smile at the image. Sebastian, take off your shirt. Nothing. She could feel the energy reaching out to try to take control but it just bounced right off of him.

"Emmalina? Are you alright?" Sebastian asked with concern in his voice. She was just standing there, starring at him.

"It....didn't work." She breathed out.

"What did not work?"

"My power. It doesn't work on you."

"Why? What is it that you are trying to do?"

"I'm a Necromancer. But I can't control you. Alesana told me that means..." She walked up to him and put her hands on his face. "You're my mate."

"Emmalina whether you could control me or not, you are still MY mate. I am not going anywhere."

Her conversation with Alesana kept repeating in her head. "You're the only one that can make his heart beat again." She put her hand on his chest where his heart was. "Bastian, why didn't you tell me that I could bring you back to life?"

Sebastian put his hand over hers. "Because I did not think you were ready for that. Claiming and Blooding are linked together. Once I claim you, that is it. There is no going back from that. We will be linked forever."

Or at least until I die. She thought sadly. She pushed those thoughts aside and decided not to worry about the future but to live in the present. "Then what are we waiting for?" She asked.

Sebastian was taken aback with her forwardness. But he'd be lying to himself if he said he didn't like it. His felt his fangs shift in his mouth just thinking about what he wanted to do to her. His vampire instincts were almost begging him to take her. "Emmalina, are you certain..."

She moved closer and pressed her lips to his, cutting him off. She slid her tongue in his mouth and deliberately grazed it on one of his fangs, drawing blood. Sebastian moaned as the warm liquid touched his tongue and every gentlemanly thing about him was locked in box inside his head until this was over. He moved his hands down her shoulders and grabbed the top of her shirt just above her breasts and ripped it off, following with his own shirt. Sebastian bent his head towards her neck and lightly grazed his fangs across the sensitive spot on her throat. She gasped and reached her hand down to undo the button on his jeans. She pulled the zipper down and tugged his jeans until they fell to the floor. She stopped only for a second to drink him in with her eyes. Every inch of his chiseled physique was glorious and she did mean EVERY inch. She rubbed her hands across his chest and down to his hips where she grabbed his sex. He jerked at her touch and before Emmalina knew it her jeans were in shreds on the floor. He looped one finger under the string of her panties and pulled snapping them. They fell to join the rest of torn pieces of fabric scattered around their feet. He picked her up and she straddled her legs around his waist and he carried her to the bedroom.

He laid her down on the bed and hoisted himself above her. She grabbed his head and forced it down so she could reach his lips. She lightly bit down on his bottom lip, causing him to moan again. He bent down and traced his tongue along the side of neck, letting his fangs graze her skin. He slide down from her neck to her breast and grabbed a throbbing nipple with his teeth, trying to be careful with his fangs. He figured he would save that for another time. She yelped in pleasure and slid her hand up to his head and grabbed on to the locks of his hair. His instincts were screaming at him to claim her now but he wanted to make sure she was ready to take him in. He knew he had to be gentle with her because she did not have an immortal's body. Her's was so fragile and could break so easily.

He grabbed her hips and rolled onto his back, placing her on top of him where her legs would straddle his hips. He reached down and slowly guided the tip of himself into her. She sucked in a breath and curled into him laying her forehead on his as she breathed through the initial pain. She gritted her teeth and slid down his length. In that moment, Sebastian heard and felt his heart beat for the first time in centuries. His lungs burned as they started filling with air and Emmalina smiled as she watched him take his first breath in so long. But Sebastian didn't care anything about that. His entire focus was on the woman on top of him. After he was sure she had acclimated herself, he gently lifted her off of him and rolled them back across the bed until he was on top again where he could take control. Emmalina reached her arms around him where she dug her nails into his back. His vampire instincts reveled when she screamed his name as he took them both over the edge into ecstasy.

After the shudders of their orgasms subsided, Sebastian curled Emmalina into him and she placed her hand over his now beating heart. He lazily opened his eyes to look at her. His mate, who was perfect in every way and he knew eternity was not nearly long enough to explore ever inch of her body, mind and soul. He gently drifted off to the sound of their hearts beating as one.

NOTES:

Whew! Finally, the chapter we've all been waiting for. This is my first time writing something like this so I would love to know what everyone thought. I was surprisingly a little more descriptive then I meant to be but I like how it turned out. So my question is should I continue on with these types of scenes in my legacy or should I let the reader use their imagination? Thanks for reading and commenting! I hope I didn't let anyone down with Emmalina and Sebastian's scene!

Chapter Twenty Two: Something Wicca This Way Comes

Emmalina sat in her chair as her mind drifted elsewhere. She'd tossed and turned all night and barely got 2 hours of sleep. Mostly she thought about her conversation with Sebastian. She wasn't sure what to think or feel but she knew he was right. She was still the same person on the inside, there was just a bit more to her now. She decided she would deal with her now non-human status and ignore the fact that there were other beings in the world besides humans and vampires. If she thought too much about that she would have a mental break down and end up in a padded room with a Thorazine drip. She turned to stare out her window and watched as the sun began to set. She hoped Sebastian would be calling soon because she wasn't sure how much longer she could go without knowing what she was. She already had to suffer through her parent's arguments about vampires throughout most of the day. She stayed locked in her room trying to avoid being dragged into it and saying something she might regret later. Her cell phone started ringing and she looked down to see that Sebastian was calling her. She didn't even bother answering. She put her phone back in her pocket and headed out the door to his house.

As soon as she got there he was waiting for her and grabbed her hands to lead her into the living room. "I found out what you are." he said as her pulse quickened.

"Well? Are you going to tell me?" She asked as she wobbled a little on her feet.

"Emmalina, sit down." he said as he led her over to the couch.

"That bad, huh?" She said as she sat down and he joined her.

"No, not at all. You just need to relax and calm down."

"Okay, I'll try but no promises. Now tell me what you know."

"I talked to Beau about this. He will not reveal what I have told him to anyone, including Bianca. He helped me confirm my suspicions. Emmalina, you are a witch or at least you are supposed to be one."

Emmalina let out a breath she didn't know she was holding. Out of all the horrible things she was imagining for almost 24 hours, a witch wasn't so bad. "What does that mean exactly?"

"Your ancestor, a woman named Emily Burkhart, bound her's and her children's magic during the Salem Witch Trails because she feared they would be persecuted. Whether she knew it or not she also bound all future generations which is why your family has no idea what they are."

"Burkhart. That's my Mother's family name. All of the women in our family have always kept that name, going back for generations, whether they were married or not."

"Perhaps, subconsciously they were trying to hold on to their legacy. Maybe all of you are trying to hold on to what you truly are but none of you knew you were doing it."

"How does Beau know all of this about my family?"

"He is not the one I gathered this information from. He told me of a witch that lived in town and I spoke to her."

"There are others?"

"Of course. Emmalina you have so much to learn of this world...of our world. The witch would actually like to meet with you and help explain this to you herself. I am sure she would do a better job than I am. I do not know a lot about witches, we mostly stay with our own kind unless the fates have paired us up. Which seems to be quite often as far as I can tell." He said as he smiled to himself. The fates were indeed kind to me, that I cannot argue. If only I could claim her...

"I'd like to know more about them."

"Very well. I will call her now and set up a time and place."

She watched as Sebastian went into the next room to make his call. She leaned back on the couch and closed her eyes. She smiled as relief swelled in her chest. She wasn't some kind of mutant weirdo who had brains for breakfast. She was just a witch. How bad can it be? She thought as she slowly drifted off to sleep.

When she woke up there was a blanket on top of her and she smiled as she snuggled into it. Then she realized where she was. Oh shit!! She thought as she threw the blanket off and looked at her phone. Only 2 missed calls this time? Maybe he was listening when I told him I wasn't a child anymore. She put her phone on the table and noticed a note. Sebastian had written down the time and place to meet the witch. He had also written down her name, Alesana Blackwell. She was supposed to meet her at 11:00am. She glanced at the clock on the wall, it was already 10:45am. Damn, I'm going to be late. She grabbed her phone, folded the blanket and wrote Thank you, I'll see you tonight on the back of the paper and called her Father back as she headed out the door.

When she got to the little bistro across town, she saw only one woman sitting at a table and assumed she must be Alesana. She was incredibly nervous when she walked up to her. "Are you Alesana Blackwell?" She asked.

"Yes, you must be Emmalina Burkhart. It's a pleasure to meet you. Please join me."

Emmalina took the chair across from Alesana. "I'm sorry I'm late. I fell asleep at my.....ummm, at Bastian's house." She corrected, not sure what to call him.

"Sebastian has made it quite clear that you are his mate and if any harm comes to you while you are in my presence I will pay for it with my blood." She said, half laughing.

"He said what?" Emmalina asked, slightly embarrassed. She couldn't believe he would threaten the person who was trying to help her.

"Oh please. Lore men are all the same when it comes to their mates. Always ready to fight or kill someone if a hair is out of place." She said as she rolled her eyes. "Your vampire is no different. Plus I can tell he hasn't claimed you yet. That will definitely put him on the edge."

"You have completely lost me, already. What do you mean by claiming and what is Lore men?"

"Oh you really do have a lot to learn don't you? What I meant by Lore men is the male population in The Lore, that's what we call our little supernatural community. As for the claiming part, well I can tell you are still a virgin, therefore he has not yet claimed you. Which means technically you are still up for grabs."

"How do you know I'm a virgin?"

"That's my power. I have the gift of knowing. It's sort of like a physic, except I'm the real deal. It's also how I know so much about different supernatural beings."

Emmalina shifted uncomfortably in her chair. Not sure how she felt about this stranger knowing things about her. "Do all witches have that power?"

"No. We are all born with the power to cast spells, make potions but each witch also has at least one magically ability."

"What is mine supposed to be?"

"I'm not sure. I did some more digging on Emily Burkhart, who was your ancestor that bound her line's magic and she had several. We won't know what yours is until we break the binding spell."

"Break the spell?"

"Yes. Don't you want your magic? It's who you are, who you were born to be whether you knew it or not. It's a part of you and deep down you know there is something missing."

Emmalina had never thought about it before. She'd been so busy with school, then work and now Sebastian to pay much attention. She closed her eyes and tried to look deep within herself, deeper than she's ever looked before. She then knew what Alesana meant. "It feels......empty."

Alesana smiled to herself knowing Emmalina would see what she was talking about. "Why don't we go over to my house and I can see what can be done about that?"

"Alright." Emmalina said, still wondering how she never knew that dark, empty hole existed in her.

Emmalina and Alesana took a taxi to her house. Emmalina was nervous but she couldn't help it. She didn't know what to expect. When they walked into the house they were greeted by a man. A very attractive man. Jesus, is every person in the Lore sexy? "Emmalina this is my mate, Dorian. He's a Lycan, though Werewolf is more commonly used but Lycan is the correct term. Werewolves are human lore and are controlled by the moon. Dorian is not, though the full moon does...change him a bit." Alesana let her mind drift back to the last moon cycle. Her favorite memory being when he had her pinned against a pine tree. The full moon always brings the wildness out in him and wildness always makes for great sex. It took her a week to recovery from their little camping trip in the woods. But if was worth every bit of soreness.

"This is the vampire's mate?" Dorian asked Alesana.

"Hmmm? What? Oh yes, right, this is Emmalina." She answered as she brought her mind back to the present.

"Emmalina it's nice to meet you."

"You too." Emmalina said trying to keep her nerves in check.

"I'm sorry you were mated with a vampire. You seem like a sweet girl." Dorian said bluntly.

"Why? What's wrong with him?" Emmalina asked.

"Nothing. It's just vampires have had wars with almost every faction of the Lore over the millennia. We tend to hold grudges, though Dorian was just being rude." Alesana answered as she cut her eyes at Dorian.

"You're right, I was. Emmalina I apologize for my rudeness. I'm sure your vampire is a...... some what decent male."

"That's okay. Don't hurt yourself with all those compliments though."

Alesana and Dorian laughed. "I'll try not to. Thanks for that advice." Dorian said between laughs. He turned to Alesana, "I'm going for a run, I'll be back in a hour or so."

She kissed him and said, "Alright, we're going down to the basement." She gestured towards Emmalina, "Follow me."

Emmalina followed Alesana down stairs into a big, dark basement. "I'm sorry about Dorian. His parents were killed by vampires when they were in war with the Lycan several centuries ago. I don't think he's ever gotten over it. I'm not making excuses for him but just hoping you might have a little more sympathy."

"I understand. It's fine, really. Wait did you just say centuries?? Lycan are immortal too?

"Yes, we all are."

"That means I will be too, right?" Emmalina asked excitedly.

Alesana winced. "I'm sorry but no. You have a human father. One thing you can always count on humans for is their mortality. That's why most of us don't take humans as lovers. We don't want our children to be crippled by mortality. Though it's possible that you may live a little longer than the average human but in the end you will die as well." Alesana looked down at her feet as she continued. "And your vampire will surely follow you, this I know."

"I was trying to forget about that." Emmalina said sadly. "I don't understand why he can't just live on without me. We don't even love each other." I don't think? Do I?

"I don't think you fully understand mates, Emmalina. You get one, that's it. To only be able to spend a measly 80 years with him or her is just cruel. Imagine getting the one thing you have waited for centuries or even millennia for and then all of a sudden it's snatched away from you....for eternity. Since your mate is a vampire, you will give him even more."

"That sounds....horrible. But what is it that I'm supposed to give him exactly?"

"Life, Emmalina, life. Remember when I told you about him claiming you? Well there is something else that happens with that too."

"What?" Emmalina asked, completely enthralled by all this new information.

"You are the only person in existence that can make his heart beat again, make his lungs fill with air. You're the only one who can bring him back from death."

"That's quite a lot of responsibility. But he never said anything about any of this."

"Well, what is he supposed to say? Would you please have sex with me so I can breath in some fresh air for the first time in centuries? I don't know about you but I don't think many people would react very well to that kind of request, especially if you aren't a Lorean."

"Okay, I see your point but he should have at least tried to explain it to me. I've never heard of any of this and my parents are vampire hunters for Christ's sake!"

"He would have eventually. I'm actually surprised he lasted this long. For a vampire, he is a decent male, I'll give you that. As for you parents, they don't know the half of it. The stories humans tell about us are always wrong. I mean really! Do you know what I use a broom for? Sweeping, just like everyone else. But I will say since they are vampire hunters, some of what they know about vampires is right. Just not everything about the mating process for them. When vampires are brought back to life by their mates, their strength and speed almost triples with the first beat."

"What about witches? How do you find your mate?"

"Our powers won't work on our mates. I will never know anything about Dorian unless he tells me himself. Nor can I tell how he is feeling since I'm also an Empath. I have two magically abilities."

"What is an Empath?"

"I can tell what you're feeling. I feel it myself. For instance right now, you are worried about what will happen to your vampire when you die, you are nervous about being a witch and you are excited about the claiming process." Alesana said matter of fact.

Emmalina blushed a bit at the last statement. She liked the idea that she could make Sebastian's heart beat again. It made her feel important....special and yes excited since she knew sex was the key. "That's quite impressive. The one that bothers me the most is my worry. Is there any way I could be an immortal?"

"A few factions can be made instead of born. Vampires, Lycan and Phantoms can all be made. But once you are one of them you cannot go back to what you once were."

"What is a Phantom?"

"It's a very rare being that was actually once human. After a human dies, if their ghost doesn't move on, after 500 years they will gain a corporeal body. Then they will be able to change back and forth from their solid body to their spirit one. Which makes killing them impossible because you can't kill ghosts. The blade just goes right through their necks."

"500 years is a long wait. I was hoping for something a little sooner."

"You could get bit by a bunch of Lycans. But that would be extremely painful and you would probably die. Few are turned into Lycans because the bites usually kill them. Then there are the vampires. I think I should let Sebastian tell you about that one."

Emmalina was a little disappointed that was all she had to choose from. She didn't really want to be a vampire. But that seemed her only option. Wait, why am I even thinking about this? Just because I don't want to be responsible for Bastian's death doesn't mean I love him. And these are drastic changes that you should do for someone you love. Which I don't.....I don't think. I'm so confused...

Alesana smiles to herself as she senses Emmalina's battle with herself. "Well, while you fight with yourself, I'm going to look for that spell."

"I'm sorry, I'm just....unsure. This is a lot to take in."

"I know. But once the spell is broken, you'll be stronger and more sure of yourself because you'll be whole. You're getting back what's missing which is half of who you are. All of you are."

"What do you mean all of you?"

"Your mother and brother?"

"How did you know...Oh nevermind. I thought this was only supposed to unbind my magic?"

"No, it will release all of your powers."

"WHAT!? No, we can't do this. How am I supposed to explain all of this to them? I thought I was just making the decision for myself! No, I don't have the right to change them. They don't know anything about any of this."

"Emmalina you are not changing them. We are just going to give them back what is rightfully theirs. All three of you were meant to be witches. You were born witches. We just need to release what is already inside each of you. Trust me, they will be freaked out at first but eventually they will come around."

"Fine, let's just get this over with before I change my mind." Emmalina said not sure she was making the right decision.

"Ah! Here it is! Emmalina would you grab that knife from that table? We're going to need a bit of your blood for the spell."

Emmalina walked over to the table and grabbed the knife. Alesana joined her with a bowl and an arm full of ingredients. She placed the bowl in the middle of table and started throwing in God knows what. Emmalina recognized a few things like salt, rosemary and lavender but the rest was a mystery.

"Give me your hand." Alesana said and Emmalina lifted her palm. Alesana slide the knife across her hand and blood quickly began to pour out. "Hold your hand over the bowl." Emmalina did as she was told and watched as her blood dripped into it.

"Alright, now I just need you to repeat the words I say. Are you ready?"

"As I'll ever be."

And they began chanting:
What was Sealed
is now released
what was Bound
is now freed
The Wheel turns
and Time flows
the Circle opens
and words cease
By Fire and Air
Water and Earth
Spirit and Soul
the Spiral rises
up and out
now go...

After the words were said three times, Emmalina felt tingly all over. Then she felt a burst of electric energy. After it was faded away, she felt....powerful, bright, whole and confident. She understood what Alesana meant. I know what I want now and I'll be damned if anyone tries to take it.

Alesana pulled her in for a hug as she said, "Welcome to the Lore, Emmalina."

NOTES:

Sorry for my small little break. This chapter was actually supposed to include a few other things but I decided to cut it short and save that for the next chapter. (Sorry Cece, I PROMISE it will be in the next chapter!) I actually had some trouble writing this chapter. It took me most of the day to get it done. Note to self: No more breaks! Lol. Thanks again for reading!

Credit for the spell used is here because I suck at rhyming.

Chapter Twenty One: The First Taste

Emmalina slept through almost the entire next day. She had her days and nights mixed up thanks to spending so much time with a vampire. When she woke up around 6pm, she showered and got dressed. Donovan called out to her as she put on her last bit of makeup. "Emmalina, could you come here for a few minutes? We need to talk." Emmalina walked over and sat down beside Donovan. "Do you want to explain to me why you've been coming home after dawn lately?"

"I told you, I'm working on a case." she lied.

"So why does all of this investigating have to be done after dark?"

"It's not my fault. That's the only time I can meet with them."

"Emmalina! How could you be so stupid!?"

What the hell did I say? "What? I haven't done anything."

"You're working cases for vampires! Who else would always want to meet at night?"

Oh.....that. Maybe I should think before I speak.. "Well...uh....I.."

"Don't lie to me. Who are you working for?"

"I'm just working a small case for Bianca and her mate. I don't see what the big deal is! Mom is friends with Bianca." I'm sorry Bianca....but I had no choice.

"That doesn't matter! We don't want you mixed up in all of this. It's too dangerous. Even if Bianca and her mate wouldn't hurt you intentionally it doesn't mean it won't happen. You don't need to be caught in the middle of anything to do with vampires."

Well, it's a little too late for that. "I don't care. I'm an adult now, dammit. I have the right to make my own decisions." They both sat there for a moment, taking a breath and trying to calm down before they each said something they might regret. "You know, not all vampires are bad, Dad."

"You've figured that out from the one vampire you've met?"

"No. Not just one.."

Donovan snapped his head up and turned to her. "There's more? Emmalina, what are you thinking!?"

"Well, I mean, I met her mate, Beau. He seemed nice too."

Donovan shook his head. "What am I going to do with you? Emmalina this road you're going down? You need to stop and go back the other way. I can't always be there to be protect you and this is a sure way for you to get hurt."

Emmalina stood up and started to walk towards the door. As she grabbed the knob she turned and looked at her father. "I'm not dropping the case and I'd appreciate it if you would let me form my own opinions instead of pushing yours down my throat!" She slammed the door behind her and headed to Sebastian's house.

Donovan continued to sit on the couch, worrying about his daughter until Amelia came in from work. She walked into the living room. "Amelia, we need to talk." Donovan said.

Emmalina finally arrived at Sebastian's house but stopped just before she got to the door. He's wrong. Not all vampires are ruthless killers. I've seen the complete opposite. Well except for the whole killing thousands of people thing but I've never seen it being done. And I don't know what happened to him to make him hate them so much but he has to deal with that, not me. She pushed the thoughts aside as she walked into his house.

He greeted her in the dinning room where a plate of food was waiting. "I made you dinner. I realized you might have been hungry since this is the normal time humans are supposed to eat."

She starred at him in fascination. A vampire who cooks dinner? "You cooked for me?" she asked with a smile. She walked over and kissed him on the cheek and then sat down at the dining table.

He took the chair beside her. "I hope it is not too horrible. Food has changed dramatically since I last ate it."

She took a bite of the food. Oh wow. It is totally horrible. She looked over at him as he patiently waited for her response. "It's wonderful. Thank you."

He smiled back at her, "Emmalina, you are a terrible liar."

"I know, I'm sorry. It's the thought that counts though. No one would blame you for not being a top chef, you don't even eat!"

"I apologize. Maybe I will take a cooking class before I do this again."

Emmalina laughed at the thought of a vampire in a cooking class. She stood up, looked over at him and bit her lip, trying to get courage for she wanted to say to him. "You know, maybe I should pay you back since you cooked for me. Maybe I could offer you the same in return...."

One minute she was beside the table and now he had her pinned against the wall....again. "Emmalina do not say things you do not mean." he growled as his eyes focused on her neck.

Emmalina thought she would be scared, which was why she hadn't offered before now but she felt the opposite. His voice was husky and it sent little shivers down her spine. Oh I am most definitely doing this. "I meant what I said. Do it." Sebastian backed up a few steps, trying to get himself under control. He wasn't sure if she really wanted to do this or not. She walked up to him, she was excited and adrenaline was pumping through her veins. She admitted to herself that there was a little bit of fear but it was the good kind. Like the the kind of fear you get from riding a roller coaster for the first time. "Bastian...please?" she said as she put her hand on his chest.

This time, Sebastian didn't hesitate. No way in hell could he pull away from her now. He bent his head down to her neck and brushed his lips on her flesh. His fangs slid out and he felt Emmalina shiver as he licked the warm skin on the side of her neck. He sank his fangs into her and the entire world around them disappeared. He moaned when the first drop of her blood touched his tongue. Their minds started to merge and intertwine with each other. He felt her excitement, her pleasure. He knew she felt his too. It was almost like he could feel her soul and she was just as beautiful on the inside as she was the outside. He was almost overwhelmed by the pure brightness of her. He never felt anything like this before. He'd never been so close to another being in his entire life. Now he understand why every vampire longed for their mate, because there was no way he would ever live without this again. After all the centuries he finally felt....connected. As he continued to pull her blood in his mouth, he noticed something even more fascinating. She tasted....different, like pure magically energy. He was pretty sure her being his mate wasn't the cause of that...

He pulled back from her neck and pushed one of his thumbs to his fangs until he was bleeding. He rubbed his thumb on her neck where his fang marks were and they instantly started healing. He grabbed her face and asked, "Are you alright?"

"Yeah." she said still breathing heavily from what just happened. "That was....I can't even find the words to explain. Is that how it always is?"

"No. It is because you are my mate. That was quite a different experience for me as well. You did not tell me you were not fully human."

"I beg your pardon? I am fully human." she said in confusion.

"No you are not. I should have been able to smell it but I cannot. I only tasted it in your blood. You are something else."

"That's impossible, Bastian. I have normal parents. And what do you mean something else? There are more than just vampires?"

"Of course. We are not the only supernatural creatures who walk this earth. I hate to ask but is there any chance you were adopted?"

"No, I wasn't. I know that for a fact. What else is out there?"

"A lot more than vampires. Werewolves, different factions of the Fae, Sirens, Witches, Demons, Valkyries, Sorcerers....you have heard of various lore from many of these creatures, I am sure. It all had to come from somewhere, Emmalina."

"Oh my God! All of those beings are just walking around and we are completely oblivious." Emmalina said as she shook her head in disbelief.

"Emmalina I only told you because you are a part of this world. None of us want humans to know that we exists. It is bad enough a few humans know about my kind, thanks to the ones that go rogue, it would be very bad if those few knew about us all. Some of those creatures have their own realms to keep hidden but many of them live in this one."

"I understand....keep my mouth shut."

"It would be best if you did, yes. If you do not mind, I would like to do some digging to find out what you are." Sebastian said, trying to eliminate what she isn't in his head.

"You have an idea though don't you?"

"I have a few. But I would like to be certain before I tell you."

Emmalina sighed, "Bastian, this is a lot. You, finding out about that half the creatures I've heard about are real, finding out I'm not even human. I don't know if I can handle all of this."

"You are stronger than you think. I have seen that for myself."

Emmalina looked at him wearily not sure if he was right about that. "I need to get home. I just need some time to think and process all of this. Plus I think my Dad will flip if I come in at dawn again."

Sebastian wasn't at all happy that she wanted to go so soon. It was only midnight and he assumed they would be spending the entire night together, but he knew she had to deal with this on her own. He remembered how he felt when he realized he was no longer human. "Alright, I understand. It will give me a chance to figure out what you are."

Emmalina grimaced when he said that. "I don't know who I am anymore."

He grabbed her and lightly traced her lips with his thumb. "Emmalina you are still the same person as you were when you woke up. Just because you found out you are not what you thought you were does not change the person that you have become."

"Thank you. You'll be sure to call me after your own little investigation?" she said with a smile.

"Yes I will. I promise." He kissed her and then watched as she walked out the door and got into her car. He went back into the house to call Beau, hoping he would have a little insight.

However Beau was trying to deal with his own problems. "Mrs. Burkhart, I assure you, I have no idea what has made you so angry."

"Really? How about asking my daughter to work cases for you! Are you trying to get her killed?"

"What are you...." He looked into her mind to find out what the hell she was talking about before he finished his sentence. He saw the pictures flashing in his own mind of her and her husband talking about Emmalina. Ahhh, apparently Emmalina gave them an excuse for her late nights. Well Emmalina and Sebastian will most definitely owe me for Amelia Burkhart's wrath. "Oh now I realize what case you are referring to. Mrs. Burkhart I needed a good investigator and your daughter is the best in her field. I assure you no harm will come to her."

"You can't promise me that! Look I trust Bianca, I really do. But I don't know you. My husband is furious over this. I'm the one that has to deal with that. And don't call me Mrs. Burkhart. You're probably 10 times my age anyways."

"I am sorry, Amelia. My mate loves you, you are her best friend. The only one she has left. She would be upset if your daughter were hurt. I do not wish my mate to feel any pain. Do you see the connection?"

"Yes, I do." Amelia sighed.

"You do not share the same views as your husband any more do you?"

"No, not really. Bianca has helped me a lot these past months and I've realized that vampires are like humans. Some are bad and some are good. I can't blame you all for what one vampire has done. BUT one bad vampire, rouge or not, could do a lot more damage than one bad human."

"I am glad she helped you with that and I do agree with you there. But I promise Emmalina is one of the safest people in the city."

"Now how am I supposed to explain all of this to my husband?"

"That I cannot help you with. I have heard rumors of your husband and Bianca has told me a few things about him. He seems consumed by his hate. Hate is a very powerful emotion. It is not easy to overcome it." Beau's phone started ringing. "Please excuse me." He said as he answered it. "Hello?"

"I need some information. Can you come over to my home?" Sebastian asked.

Beau looked over to Amelia. Well this is quite awkward. "Yes, I will be there in a few minutes." and he hung up.

"Well, I guess I should leave since you have somewhere you need to be. I'm sorry for getting so angry, I guess I'll have to find someway to explain all this to Donovan." she said, dreading that conversation.

"Yes, a friend of mine needs a bit of help it seems. Though I wish you luck with that. You will probably need it."

Amelia laughed, "Indeed I will." They rode the elevator down to the ground floor and each went their separate ways.

When Beau arrived at Sebastian's house, he invited him in and they sat down on the couch. "You know your mate's mother was with me when you called." Beau said.

"Why?"

"Because Emmalina told her parents the reason why she came home at dawn every day was because she working a case for Bianca and I. Which led to her mother marching over to my home, concerned for her daughter."

Sebastian winced, "I am sorry."

"Do not be. I am sure Emmalina only made up the story to protect you and herself. Plus, I kind of like Amelia. She is feisty. Now what is it that you need information on?"

"I drank from Emmalina" Sebastian admitted.

Beau looked at him in surprise. "She let you?"

"Yes. It was the most amazing moment of my existence. But she tasted....different, as in non-human. I am assuming that is not part of her being my mate?"

"You assume right. She would taste human regardless of being your mate. This is....interesting. What did she taste like?"

"The best way I know how to describe it is magically energy. But you cannot smell it on her at all. You have met her, did you smell anything different?"

"No I did not. Hmm...this is quite puzzling. She looks human though, that rules out several beings and then add the fact that it is magically energy, I would say a witch or a sorceress. Did you sense light or darkness?"

"Definitely light."

"I drank a witch to death once. That bitch tried to curse me. Luckily for me she was unpracticed, not so lucky for her though. But her blood tasted similar to what you are describing. Bright magically energy. Your mate is a witch, I am certain."

"Why is that we cannot smell the magic from her. Why do I only taste it?"

"That I do not know. Only another witch could answer that question."

"Do you know if one?"

"Actually yes. One lives on the outside of town. It will be easy for you to find. Just sniff for magic combined with the scent of wildness a Werewolf gives off. She is a mate of one, so I would tread carefully. I think her name is Blackwell, Alesana Blackwell."

"Thank you, Beau. Though I would appreciate it if you did not mention this to your mate. She may tell Amelia and that would be confusing to explain how this came about."

"Yes, that would be quite difficult to explain. Alright then, if you leave now you should have enough time to talk to the witch. I will see you soon." Beau was out the door before Sebastian could respond.

Beau was right. Sebastian had no trouble finding where the witch resided. He walked on to the brightly lit porch and rang the doorbell. A redhead woman came to the door and stepped out. "Are you Alesana Blackwell?" He asked.

"Why does a vampire want to know?"

"Please, I mean you no harm but my mate is like you, only she is not."

"What does that even mean?"

"May I come in and explain?"

"Alright, fine. But no tricks vampire or you won't leave here alive."

"I understand."

Sebastian followed Alesana into the house. "Now explain to me what the hell you're talking about."

"My mate does not smell of magic as you do, but she tastes like it. She tastes of pure bright magical energy."

"Only a binding spell could do that. It may take away her magic but it can't erase it from her blood. Whichever parent is a witch must have bound her magic for a reason."

"No, neither one of them smell like witches either. I do not think either one of them even know witches exist. My mate certainly did not."

"So you're saying your mate is a witch and she, nor her family don't even know what they are?"

"Correct."

"Then one of their ancestors must have bound their entire line. That's some powerful magic."

"Why do you say it is powerful?"

"Because she or he didn't just take away their own magic, they wiped it from current and future generations, from generations that weren't even born yet. What is your mate's name?"

"Emmalina Burkhart."

"Burkhart?" she asked. "That sounds familiar, come with me." Sebastian followed her down some stairs into the basement.

When they reached the bottom, Sebastian couldn't help but look around. He heard a noise and looked back to the stairs where a wolf was running down them. The wolf placed himself between him and the witch and started to growl. Sebastian backed up a few steps and kept his eyes on the wolf's teeth at all times. One bite and he would dead within 48 hours. "Dorian, you can calm down a bit, he is just here asking about his own mate." The wolf looked back at her, unsure what to do.

The wolf must have trusted his mate because after some shifting of bones there was a naked man standing in front of Sebastian. "Why does your mate concern mine?" Dorian growled, not thrilled to have a vampire so close to Alesana.

"She is a witch but she does not know it."

Dorian looked back at Alesana with a question in his eyes. "It's true. I suspect an ancestor wiped out their magic." she answered.

"Then where is your mate?" he asked Sebastian.

"She is at home. As you can imagine this was a lot to take in."

"Alesana would you please come upstairs for a second while I put on some clothes." Dorian said not taking his eyes off the vampire.

"Only if you guys stop acting like you're ready to rip each other apart the first chance you get."

"Fine. Come on." Dorian said.

"We'll be right back, don't touch anything." Alesana said as she followed Dorian up the stairs.

Sebastian couldn't help but look around the room while they were gone. He was utterly fascinated. He saw potions, spell books, even a skull. There were herbs in baskets and herbs hanging from the ceiling. Bottles of God knows what sitting on one table.

Out of the corner of his eye he saw something move and walked over to another table to investigate. He saw a glass ball with almost glowing smoke in it and leaned down to see what it was. The pointer to a spirit board moved and he realized that must have been what the movement was the first time. He'd never seen a spirit board before but he knew how they worked. He looked down at it as it started moving across the board. S-E-B-A-S-T-I-A-N. What the.... He looked around the room but no one was there. Then he heard the two coming back down the stairs so he moved back to the middle of the room, trying to ignore what he just saw.

They both joined him and he waited to see what she could tell him. Alesana walked over to an old book and flipped it open to a page. "Vampire you said your mate's name was Burkhart, correct?"

"Yes." He answered as he noticed the wolf would not be leaving her side while he was here.

"Ahh, here it is. Burkhart. Your mate's ancestor's name was Emily Burkhart. She lived in Salem during the witch trials and cast a spell on her children, her children's children and so on to prevent them from being victims. Our powers manifest when we hit puberty and it's very unstable. Sometimes there are...accidents. So she decided the best way to protect them was to take away their magic altogether. I don't think she meant to wipe it completely from her line though."

"All of this is in a book?" Sebastian asked.

"Well, yes. The humans have their history books, we have ours. Emily was an extremely powerful witch with several magically powers. Not all witches have those. So she would have been documented."

"Vampire shouldn't your mate be the one to hear all of this?" Dorian jumped in.

"Which is why I am going to tell her."

"This is a lot to explain and I don't feel comfortable with you here. I don't mean to be rude but you understand. How would you feel if I was with yours in my wolf form?"

"I would not like that all. I see your point." He looked back at Alesana. "Would you be willing to explain everything to Emmalina? Break the binding spell if that is what she wishes?"

Alesana rolled her eyes at all the testosterone in the room. "Yes because you guys are getting on my damn nerves. If I hear one more proud male taking care of his mate shit, I'm going to flip."

Dorian turned to look at his mate. "I'm sorry, I can't help it, it's instinct." he said as he gave her a wolfey grin.

She tried to hide her own smile. He drove her crazy sometimes but she still loved him. Not to mention his wonderful sexual skills.... Sebastian cleared his throat so they knew he was still in the room. The thoughts he was seeing from the both of them made him realize they might have forgotten he was there. "Oh right, yes. If she is more comfortable with it, maybe I could meet her for lunch or something. Do you think she would be okay with that?"

"I will ask her and then one of us will call you. Thank you again for all of your help." Sebastian said as he left, leaving the two in the basement where he was sure they would be ripping off clothes any second.
