Chapter Twenty Six: The Vampire and The Valkyrie

"Shit, shit, shit!" Emmalina said in a panic.

More banging ensued. "I know you're in there." Amelia yelled from the front door.

"Bastian stay here. I'll be right back."

"Absolutely not. I'm coming with you." He said.

"Please. I'm begging you. Let me handle this." She pleaded.

"Fine but I'm not promising that I'll keep hidden the entire time."

"EMMALINA!" Amelia shouted again.

Emmalina rushed to the front door and walked out, closing it behind her.

"Mom what the hell are you doing here? How did you find me?"

"It's two in the morning. When you left you weren't feeling well and then you never came home. You wouldn't answer your cell phone and I got worried so I called the station and asked them to trace it for me."

"You had my phone traced?" Emmalina asked in horror.

"I thought you were passed out in an ally or something. When they gave me the address I didn't recognize it so I decided to come check it out. Who's house is this anyways?"

"I was just visiting a friend."

"A friend? At two in the morning? No, I'm not buying that. It's got to be a guy."

"So? What if it is?"

"Why didn't you think you could tell me this? What's so....Oh my God, Emmalina he isn't married is he?"

That was the last straw for Sebastian. Before Emmalina could reply to her questions, he was standing beside her. Amelia sucked in a breath but couldn't release it. She was sure she was having a heart attack.

"Mom, let me explain..."

"Emmalina, no." Amelia whispered as she stared at the two. "Not this. What have you done? He has to be controlling you some how!"

"No he isn't. Everything is fine...I.."

"FINE!? Have you lost your fucking mind? My God Emmalina, how could you be so stupid?"

It took every ounce of willpower Sebastian had not to snap her neck right then and there. He was about to voice the threat anyways when a surge of power engulfed them all.

"THAT IS ENOUGH! I'm sick of hiding this. I'm sick of having to sneak around for yours and Dad's sake. I'm DONE!" She said as she moved towards her mother. Amelia stepped back at her daughter's sudden anger. Power continued to surge around them until four spirits surrounded Amelia. Malicious energy was pouring off of them. Emmalina didn't realize in her anger that she'd called them to attack her mother. Amelia tried to use her own power against the spirits but it was no use. They had no bodies for her to move. "Oh my God. I didn't mean...." She said as the spirits closed in on Amelia. "STOP! Go away!" Emmalina screamed but the spirits weren't listening to her. Amelia just stood there, frozen in fear.

Sebastian realized that this was about to get messy. Amelia would be in pieces in minutes if Emmalina couldn't pull them back. He walked up to her and grabbed her face. "Look at me Emmalina." She kept glancing back at her mother trying to figure out how to help her. "No. Focus on me." Emmalina turned to look in his glowing silver eyes. "Good. Emmalina you have to focus yourself. Let your angry go, they're fueling off of it. Let another emotion through, one that brings you peace." She closed her eyes and thought of him. How much she loved him, how safe she felt with him. How he always knew how to comfort her. She let it build up in her heart until she felt calm. "You can do this." He whispered to her, giving her encouragement. She open her eyes and turned towards the spirits. Leave. She thought with everything she had and this time they obeyed her order.

Emmalina ran to her mother and wrapped her arms around her. "Thank God. I didn't mean to do that. I'm....so sorry. You aren't hurt are you? I couldn't control it, it just happened." She sobbed in her mother's shoulder, horrified at what could have happened if Sebastian wasn't there.

"No. I'm....okay. It's not your fault. Neither of us can control these powers. I know you didn't do it on purpose." Amelia replied, still scared half to death but she still tried to comfort her daughter. These powers were so useful to her but they were making her family crazy. I guess everything comes with a price. "Come on Emmalina, let's go home."

"What? No. I'm not leaving."

Sebastian took that moment to wrap his arms around Emmalina. "Mom, this isn't just a fling with a vampire. I'm his mate."

"I'm assuming you know what that means?" Sebastian said.

"Yes, I know what it means!" Amelia yelled, mad at her daughter, at this vampire. Angry with fate for giving a vampire her daughter.

"Then you know I'm not going anywhere.....ever."

Yeah, We'll see about that. Amelia thought before she could catch herself.

"Is that so?" Sebastian asked with a challenge in his eyes. He'd be dammed before he let a little blonde take the last remaining months he had with Emmalina.

"Is what so?" Emmalina asked.

"You're mother seems to be plotting my murder." Sebastian said with a smile.

"For Christ's sake! Are you insane?" Emmalina asked. "Most mother's do not want to murder their daughter's boyfriends."

"And most daughter's boyfriends aren't monstrous murders!" Amelia said not keeping her eyes off Sebastian.

Emmalina sighed. "Bastian will you go into the house so I can talk to her alone. Because this isn't working."

"Fine. I fear I may do something I'll regret anyways. Plus...I'm getting thirsty." Sebastian said as he looked at Amelia. Shock crossed over Amelia's face and it was the exact reaction he was looking for. He laughed as he went into the house.

Amelia looked at her daughter, "SEE? All wants to do is eat people!"

"He was just teasing you, Mom." I hope so anyways. I really wish he wouldn't have said that.

"Emmalina, I just can't understand this. He's not even human!"

"News flash, Mother. Neither are we! And I know you can't understand it, you never will. But...I have something else I need to tell you."

Emmalina figured it was time to get everything out in the open, including the baby growing inside of her. She put her hands on her stomach and looked up to Amelia. "I'm pregnant."

Several emotions crossed Amelia's face before she said anything. She wasn't sure how she was supposed to feel about this. She wanted grandchildren but...not quite like this. "I...I don't know what to say to that....I...God everything is falling apart."

Amelia dropped to her knees and started to cry. "This...this isn't how it was supposed to be." She said between her sobs.

Emmalina sat on the ground beside her mother and tried to comfort her. "Mom. Come on now, don't cry. Everything is fine. I'm happy about all of this. Why can't you see that? Why can't you be happy for me?"

"I don't know. I've hated vampires for a long time. Hell I was just getting use to my best friend being one."

"If I was dating a human and this baby was his would you be happy for me?"

"Yes, of course. You would have a nice normal family."

"We aren't normal. Plus being normal is vastly overrated. Haven't you heard that? Mom, I wish you would give him a chance. He may not be normal but he's a great man. Plus I'd like my child to know who his or her's grandparents are. Or do you not want anything to do with this baby?"

"I do. I want to put a part of your life and the baby's. But not him."

"We're kind of a package deal. Mom, look at me." Amelia held her head up and wiped the tears from her eyes. "I love him. I always will. Please don't make me choose." Emmalina said with her own tears in her eyes. She felt like she was being ripped apart.

At that moment, Amelia realized what she was doing to her daughter. Mother's may not always agree with what their children do but they will always love and support them. She was doing the exact opposite. Her daughter wasn't hurting because of a vampire, she was hurting because of her.
Amelia sighed before she said, "He makes you happy? I mean like REALLY happy?"

Emmalina's face lite up like a Christmas tree. "Over the moon." She said with a smile.

"Does he treat you good? Does he love you back?" Amelia asked unsure if Vampire's were capable of love.

"I do." Sebastian said from the front door.

"Mom, will you at least come inside and get to know him a little better. Please?"

"Alright, but I'm not promising that I'll be nice about it."

"I'll take what I can get."

They got off the wet grass and joined Sebastian in the house.

They all sat around the living room and Sebastian put his arms around Emmalina. He wasn't exactly making this easy for Amelia but he knew she needed to get use to it so she could eventually accept me. Amelia glanced around the room at all the knives and swords, some still had blood on the blades. God, what is he? Some kind of warrior?

"Actually, yes. When I was human, I was a Knight."

A knight in shining armor? Are you fucking kidding me?

"No I am not fucking kidding you." Sebastian answered, taking her question literally.

"Umm, guys could we maybe verbalize this conversation? Not all of us have super awesome mind powers. Well....not mind reading ones anyways..." Emmalina said.

"Yes. I apologize." Sebastian answered not realizing what he was doing.

"Is Emmalina safe with you?" Amelia blurted out.

"She's probably the safest person in New York City. But as you saw, it's won't all be because of me." Sebastian answered, still half amazed at what she'd done.

"Emmalina how have you been hiding this?"

"Well....there was never a case I was working on for Beau and Bianca. Instead, I've been spending all that time here."

"But he said.....that son of a bitch! He lied to me too." She said as she realized Beau was covering for her daughter.

"He was just trying to help me, Mom. He should get credit for that."

"Bianca knew about this too then?"

"Yeah. I've talked to her about it."

"What the hell!? Has everyone just been lying to me?"

"Only because you couldn't look at this rationally. Am I wrong? Didn't you automatically assume the only way I was getting her to stay was through mind manipulation? Did you assume that I was just using her as my own personal slave?"

"Well, I...."

"Amelia, my hands might not be clean." He interrupted her. "But I love your daughter. There isn't a thing in this world or any other that I wouldn't do for her. I'd die for her in a heartbeat. How many human men would say that and mean it like I do? She's my mate, my destiny. I've waited hundreds of years for her and I won't...I can't live without her again."

"Well....damn." Amelia said. She saw it in the vampire's eyes, the love he had for her daughter and it almost made her heart hurt. She didn't even know if Donovan loved her like that.

"Do you see now, Mom? Can you at least try, for me?"

"Alright. I'll try." But Vampire, if anything happens to her, I will kill you."

"You'll be too late anyways." Sebastian said.

"What?" Emmalina asked, annoyed by these one sided conversations.

"Nothing. Just out own little agreement." Sebastian answered.

"What about Dad?" Emmalina asked.

"Emmalina, I don't think your Dad will ever be okay with this. His hatred for vampires goes back decades. He loves you, he does. You've always been his little girl but I don't even know if that's enough to overcome this."

"So your husband's hate is stronger then the love for his daughter?" Sebastian asked, trying to piece together the logic in that. "What kind of man is that?"

"You don't understand. Donovan's fiance and his best friend were murdered by vampires. He blamed himself for years but then that turned into hate for vampires." She looked at Emmalina as she said, "And I was kidnapped by a vampire when I was pregnant with you."

"What?" Emmalina asked. "You never told me that. What happened?"

"No, I didn't, none of us like to really talk about it. I really thought I was going to die and you would have along with me. A vampire wanted revenge on your father for killing his brother and we were perfect bait."

"No wonder he hates them so much." Emmalina said and then winced at Sebastian. "Sorry."

"No need to apologize. But I must say in defense that those vampires were probably like that when they were human. Humans are capable of great evil as well. I've seen that first hand. We all have good and evil inside of us. It's the one we choose to influence our actions that make us different. Not what we are."

"I know you're right. I do. But he won't see it like that." Amelia said.

"I still want to tell him....eventually." Emmalina said. She was tired of keeping her secret life. "And mother you need to tell him about us too."

Amelia winced, "God, he's probably going to have a mental breakdown. I wouldn't even know where to start."

"The truth sounds like a good place to me." Sebastian said.

"That's easier said than done. But only Emmalina and I need to be there. I'm sorry Sebastian but if you show up, he will fight you to the death."

"Mom's right. It needs to be just us. I don't know if I could forgive you if you killed him."

"Agreed." He said. After tonight when he wanted to snap Amelia's neck, he knew her father would be ten times worse and he might actually act on it.

"When should we tell him?" Emmalina asked.

"Soon-ish." Amelia said, dreading that conversation.

After they agreed to tell Donovan the truth about everything, Amelia left to go home. She still had some things she needed to work out when it came to Emmalina and Sebastian.

___

A few days past since Amelia found out about Sebastian. They spent that time celebrating their some what victory. One day Emmalina woke up as the sun was setting to find Sebastian putting on clothes. "Are you going somewhere?" She asked, sleepily.

"Actually we both are. I got in touch with that friend I mentioned, they are expecting us sometime tonight."

Emmalina and Sebastian arrived at a house shortly before 9pm. When they walked up to the door, she heard music blasting. Sebastian took her hand and walked in without knocking. Through an open archway Emmalina saw a vampire dancing in his underwear and singing at the top of his lungs.

"I'm sexy and I know it." The vampire sang.

What in the...? He's not at all what I expected. I thought he would be like Bastian. But obviously he has embraced the 21st century. And apparently he's sexy and he knows it?

Sebastian cleared his throat and said, "Theodore."

The vampire turned and smiled. Not at all ashamed that he'd been caught dancing around his living room. He walked over to them.

"Emmalina this is Theodore. Theodore this is my mate, Emmalina." He said as he was making the introductions.

"It's nice to meet you." Emmalina said as she raised her hand.

"The pleasure is all mine." He said as he bent down to kiss her hand. Sebastian shot him a dirty look but Theodore laughed it off. "So, you've knocked your mate up within the first year. You need to learn control Sebastian."

"Like you're one to talk." Sebastian countered.

"Hey, It's been decades since I've been mated."

"Speaking of your mate, where is the Unyielding One?" Sebastian asked.

Just then a beautiful brunette walked into the room. "Sebastian. It's been too long." She said as she hugged his neck. "This must be Emmalina?"

"Yes." Sebastian said as he beamed.

The Valkyrie turned to Emmalina. "I'm Paris." She said as she offered her hand to Emmalina and she shook it. Paris turned to her mate to say, "For Freya's sake Teddy, go put on some damn pants!"

"Why?" He asked her as if her request was the most absurd thing he'd ever heard.

"Because not everyone wants to see you in your underwear."

"Oh I see. You don't want Emmalina to see the goods. I got it." He said and walked into a room.

Paris shook her head as he disappeared. "What am I going to do with him? Do you know that he wants everyone in the Lore to call him Theodore the Sex God?"

Sebastian laughed. "Still same old Theodore."

Theodore came out of the bedroom fully clothed. "Alright, let's get this party started."

Both couples made their way into the living and sat down. "How have the two of you been these past few decades?" Sebastian asked, making conversation.

"Good actually. As you know we got off to a rocky start but everything worked out." Paris answered.

"That rocky start was your fault, love." Theodore turned to Emmalina to explain. "When we first met Paris threatened to wear my fangs as earrings."

"Ah yes, the good ole' days." Paris smiled as she remembered when Theodore announced she was her mate. She was disgusted by the idea. Vampires and Valkyries have feuded since as far back as she could remember. Being mated to one was unthinkable but apparently not as impossible as she once thought.

"And now the two of you are expecting a baby. It's funny how things work out." Sebastian said with some amusement. Emmalina felt like she missing something the three of them were sharing but she decided to ask Sebastian about it later.

"As are you." Paris said a little more seriously. She let her guard down so Sebastian could read her thoughts. She's mortal. What do you plan to do about that? Sebastian lightly shrugged his shoulders. At that moment, Emmalina's stomach started to growl. "Come on Emmalina, I'll fix us something to eat. I'm getting a bit hungry myself, which is still a foreign concept but I don't have a choice."

Emmalina joined Paris in the kitchen, leaving the men in the living room. "You don't like eating?" Emmalina asked in confusion.

"It's not that, I just don't eat."

"Ever?" Emmalina asked amazed.

"Normally we feed off of the earth's energy and give it back through lightening with our emotions. For us to become fertile we have to consume food from the earth for at least six weeks before and throughout the pregnancy."

"Wow. I don't know that much about the Lore or anyone in it. Bastian doesn't know much either."

"It's because he was made, not born. We usually keep a tight lid on things and we aren't allowed to share our knowledge. And all the myths you know about, that's what happens when an immortal has fucked up."

"But then why are you telling me all this?"

"You were meant to be a part of our world. It's not fault your ancestor screwed you over."

Emmalina felt a little sad that she missed out on so much because of Emily. But instead of feeling bad about something she couldn't control she decided to ask Paris what she wanted to know about in the first place. "Is my pregnancy going to be normal? I don't have to drink blood or anything right?" Emmalina asked was a disgusted look on her face.

Paris' own face mirrored Emmalina's. "Freya, no. He or she will grow up like a normal child mostly. Your child will have some strength and speed but it will eat normal food, be able to play outside in the sunlight and things a mortal child would do. When he or she reaches their last growth spurt, maybe early twenties to early thirties, they will shift into their immortality and gain their full abilities but also their weaknesses. Before then, they will be mortal and can easily be killed."

"How do you know when you shift into an immortal?"

"Because they would probably have sex with anything that has legs. When the process begins, it heightens all of your senses, nerve endings, everything. You can imagine how that would feel in certain places?"

"Oh...I got it."

"Yeah. It's pretty rough. I took my frustrations out on a Vampire killing spree. Fun times."

"So what do Valkyries do when they aren't killing Vampires?"

"Shopping. All of my sisters and I love shopping."

"You have sisters?"

"Yeah, thousands of them."

"Wh...what?"

"We have three parents. See, when a maiden warrior screams for courage as she dies on a battlefield, Wóden and Freya hear her and strike her with lightening, bringing her to Valhalla. This preserves her courage into the maiden's immortal Valkyrie daughter. We get our lightening, strength and speed from Wóden and our Fey beauty from Freya. We also get our love for shiny objects from her too. If we don't practice and train, we can be easily distracted with jewels. We are very materialistic too. We love new things and we don't like to share them either."

"This is...complicated." Emmalina admitted. There so much she didn't know about the human world yet, much less theirs.

"You'll get use to it." Paris said as she took the waffles out of the oven and they each grabbed a plate.

"Do you want me to turn her?" Theodore asked, continuing their conversation on Sebastian's predicament.

"No. It doesn't matter who does it, the outcome will still be against her will. I can't do that to my mate. I can't force her."

"I swear man, these mates of ours will be the death of us. At least you got a gentle, little witch. I got..."

"Don't start Theodore. If Paris asked you to do back flips for her, you'd do it in a heartbeat."

"Well don't tell her that. I'll be doing flips for a year straight." Theodore said laughing. He paused for second as he asked a more serious question. "So if you don't turn her and she dies, then that's it for you, isn't it?"

"Yes. Wouldn't it be for you?"

"See, like I said....the death of us." Theodore paused to ask another hard question. "What about the baby? If both of you are gone..."

"I don't want to talk about this anymore." Sebastian said. He was hurt and angry that this is what fate had dealt him. His mate would be dead, and his only child orphaned. He tried not to think of the baby at all. All of the could've been's and what if's hurt just too damn much. But he couldn't escape it. Every time he heard the fluttering heartbeat of his son or daughter, it all came rushing back. He felt like he was going mad, locked up in his own personally Hell and there wasn't a damn thing he could do about.

"I'm sorry I asked. It's just...if you need us to watch over him or her....we would."

Sebastian was a little shocked at his offer, especially with his own child coming into the world. "I appreciate that, Theodore. I really do." He knew they would never be him and Emmalina but they would be the next best thing.

"Plus if it's a boy, I promise to teach him all my knowledge and skills with the ladies." Theodore said, lightening the mood.

Back in the kitchen, Emmalina and Paris were finishing up their waffles. "So how do the two of you know Bastian?"

"I think he meet Teddy right after he was turned. Teddy's the one who explained everything to him and showed him how to survive. I met him when they pulled a scheme on me while I was trying to avoid Teddy."

"Why were you avoiding him?"

"Vampires and Valkyries have been feuding since before I can remember and I'm a little over 1.000 years old." Emmalina almost choked on her last bit of waffle at her last statement. Paris continued on, "When I first met Teddy, I fought him but he wouldn't fight me back when he realized I was his mate. He just sucked all the fun out of it so I couldn't kill him. He would follow me around where ever I went. Back then I lived with a few of my sisters and they taunted me constantly. I heard vamp tramp, fang banger and many other colorful words throughout the day. I didn't blame them though, because if it was another one of my sisters I would have joined in on the fun. Sebastian is a more logical person, with strategy and battle plans as his strength. Teddy doesn't always think things through unless it involves taking off his pants, so that's where Sebastian stepped in. Sebastian learned that one of my sisters was missing. I was the one in charge of finding her so Sebastian suggested that Teddy help me with my mission. I reluctantly let him tag along. She was taken by vampires and Teddy helped me rescue her. When we finally freed her from the dungeon, I was so grateful that I ran into his arms and that Emmalina, is the sign of my mate. I couldn't ignore it anymore. So I gave him a chance and hoped the fates knew what the hell they were doing. Okay fine, it didn't hurt that he was hot either. But if it wasn't for Sebastian I think Teddy would still be following me around. But everything worked out and my sisters even seem to like him a little. He makes them laugh."

"He does seem....intriguing."

"Don't tell him that. It's not like his head needs to get any bigger than it already is."

"I love you too, babe." Theodore said from the living room.

Theodore joined them in the kitchen as Emmalina got up to clean up the plates they used. "You know you love me." He told Paris as he slid his arm and pressed it into her lower back.

"Mostly." Paris teased.

"You know another thing you love? That thing I do." Teddy whispered something in Paris' ear that Emmalina couldn't quite make out. Paris' eyes flashed silver and a crack of lightening lite up the almost dawn sky.

"Emmalina, it's time to leave." Sebastian said before Theodore decided to put on a show that he never wanted to see, least of all Emmalina. She went to turn around to tell them goodbye but they wouldn't have noticed her even if she was on fire. She smiled at the couple and joined Sebastian as they left out the door to head home before the sun rose.

NOTES:

Ok, so hopefully Amelia accepting them...a little, was okay. I couldn't turn her into the bad guy. I just couldn't. Also I'm sure Amelia just doesn't want to upset Emmalina again. Lol. YAY for Teddy and Paris joining in on the fun. I just wasn't ready to say goodbye to them yet. So I made them immortal! You can read all about Theodore and Paris in the wonderfully written, drama packed Sabo Legacy found here by Cece. Special thanks to her for letting me include them in my story.

Also, I should also give credit to Kresley Cole who writes the Immortals After Dark series. Some of her ideas and creatures are used in my legacy along with other ideas from books with some of my own twists on them. I've changed some things and added or omitted most of the ideas but the originals were from her. So I would definitely check out those books because they are fabulous! (Plus they have sex scenes! Hihi!) Thanks for reading! Hope you guys enjoyed it!

  1. Okay so I read this three times before commenting because if I'd commented after the first read through it would have been impossible to understand my words. And after the second read through all I was thinking was sex jokes and cursing myself for not making more Teddy/Paris scenes in their generation.

    So a few notes:

    - You write Teddy better than me! He is PERFECT here. Note to self: Work harder on the shallow characters.
    - Paaaarrriiiiis <3 I miss you, my love. And holy shit she really IS a Valkyrie. O_o And I love the background you gave them. I'd love to read that story.
    - I thought the scene with Amelia was very well done, and I can understand her hesitation and respect her for making an effort for Emmalina's sake. Not looking forward to the scene with Donovan finding out... it'll break him.

  2. SEEEEE! I TOLD you they were perfect together but did you listen? NOOOO! Ahahaha! Although I would have liked to heard some of the sex jokes. Lol!

-Lol. Thank you! That's a huge compliment considering the entire time I was like.."Would he say this? Fuck! I don't know." *types it anyways*
-I know right! When I was writing it, I was like, "I don't care what Cece says, Paris was secretly a Valkyrie in her Legacy. I refuse to believe otherwise. Lol. I thought about writing their story. Along with Mason's so I can tie up his lose end. I haven't decided yet.
-Yeah, that is her daughter after all. Plus she doesn't hate vampires like Donovan does. Ugh.. I might need some advice on that. I have something in mind but...man! It's bad!

    1. Me too!

What man on the house? Man AT the house? The red one? Ohh yeah he's freaky.

If that's not what you mean then I'm totally confused because I don't remember a man being on a house.

  4. I'm really glad Amelia came to some kind of terms with her daughter's relationship. I love the way Bastian would respond to what she was thinking/
And I'm really looking forward to Donovan's reaction to all this. =D

  5. Good for Amelia on trying for her daughter's sake. I am dreading the Donovan conversation though. I really like him but am worried about the outcome this confession is going to illicit.

Also, Teddy!!! Paris should just let him keep his clothes off. He's sexy and he DOES know it. Mmm, mmm. Now I can be happy knowing that he is still wandering around, pantless and singing.

  6. I thought you handled the stuff with Amelia really well, she doesn't have the same motivations to hate vampires as Donovan does so it feels right for her to make the effort to get to know Bastian for her daughter's sake. Not looking forward to Donovan finding out though, I just can't see him being able to accept it in the slightest and I just can't see that ending well. (Although I do want to know how he's going to react to finding out Amelia and their children are witches).

Also, I loved seeing Teddy and Paris there, they were so completely awesome!
